Everybody Knows is a limited edition print made from watercolors. This print is part of a series exploring visual representations of sound. The original water color paintings were made using a wide brush to create undulating lines of color across the surface. Layers were added into the wet paint to allow the colors to bleed into each other. Once dry, bold, opaque colors were added in sections to create contrast against the softer forms of wet fluid paint.

About the Artist

Sarah Brenneman aims to connect to the viewer through the language of abstraction as the visual representation of everyday experiences filtered through mark making and color. Working in a serial manner, Brenneman combines a structured approach of specific parameters for each series with intuitive decision making to craft her paintings on paper and canvas. The works on paper are experimental in nature and are made with many layers of transparent watercolor and opaque gouache. The canvases are larger in format and take on the feel of the paintings on paper without being a direct representation of a specific work.
