Constructed with minimal marks and often painted with industrial brooms, Cat Balco’s abstract paintings convey a vivid landscape-like space. The exceptionally large marks shift viewers’ sense of scale, suggesting a vast and expansive reality beyond the canvas. Balco received her B.A. and M.F.A. from Yale University, and recent exhibitions include Rick Wester Fine Art in New York City, the Volta and Pulse art fairs, and Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT. Her work is in included in the Fidelity Corporate Art collection and the Credit Suisse collection. Balco lives and works just outside New Haven, Connecticut.
