With a strong sensibility and awareness to both precision and intuition, Robert Pokorny’s work focuses on the use of line, shape and color to describe visual impression. His brushstrokes are packed with a foresight and intention based on an exploration of the scene being observed. Pokorny strives to take a complicated visual world and, with an exact but spontaneous flourish, establish a honed version of reality. Robert Pokorny’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited widely in both the United States and Europe. Recent exhibitions include Ampersand Gallery in Portland, OR, and numerous art fairs with Aureus Contemporary including SCOPE Miami, SCOPE Basel, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, Art Copenhagen, Art Southampton, Art Wynwood, Aqua Art Fair, Texas Contemporary, and Art Fair Cologne. In 2019, his book “Drawings” was published by Ampersand Editions and debuted at the LA Art Book Fair. Pokorny lives and works in Long Beach, CA.
