Collection: Ky Anderson

Ideas take center stage in Ky Anderson’s abstract paintings. Utilizing a visual language she has developed over time and drawing from a diverse array of references, she engages in a continuous process of improvisation and translation. Working on multiple paintings simultaneously, she lets each piece bleed into the next, allowing her ideas to flow freely throughout her work. This serial process creates interconnected bodies of work that evolve over years.

She paints with a variety of mediums, beginning by staining raw canvas or paper with thin layers of acrylic paint. She builds up translucent layers of oil and acrylic paint, gradually adding opacity and thickness as the work progresses. Layered paint covers past moves, while thin paint reveals the history of her process. Each painting stands as evidence of the search, exploring the endless possibilities of shape, color, and line.
